Episode 13:

Giving Ourselves Grace

<music>

Peace be with you.

Welcome to a new week!

This episode is about forgiving yourself when you drop a ball.

Because I have to make a confession, the reason that this episode is late is because I dropped the ball.

I initially started this podcast about three months ago by recording two or three episodes at a time in advance because I knew I could busy some weeks, but the last couple of episodes were recorded on Sunday night before they published.

This past weekend, I had a Friday evening with my Spirits & Spooks friends. I spent the day on Saturday at Five Points Fest, trying to sell some books and talking to really cool people. Then I spent Saturday night working on the sequel to Daughter of the Mystic Moon, which is on a deadline. I spent Sunday morning writing more, Sunday afternoon with my guy, and we took my parents out for belated anniversary dinner Sunday evening. When I got home Sunday night, the energy was still flowing for the book, so I wrote another 2200 words.

I went to bed late. And at 3:00am, I got up to use the restroom (as we do). As I was falling back to sleep, I realized I had not actually recorded or published today's episode. So, I spent ten minutes lying in bed, beating myself up, wondering what to do, and realized that, with juggling two podcasts, a novel in progress, and spending time with loved ones, which is actually the most important thing I did all weekend, I should forgive myself for dropping a ball.

And so, I will, and I am. And I encourage you to give yourself the same grace. That’s your challenge this week. Give yourself the same grace you would give others.

Go forth and make it a great week!
